prince edward island
While the story and characters in Tango: The Tale of an Island Dog are fictional, many of the details about the book's setting—Prince Edward Island—are based on fact.
1. Prince Edward Island is the smallest (in size and population) of the ten provinces in Canada.
2. Prince Edward Island is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, west of Cape Breton Island, north of the Nova Scotia peninsula, and east of New Brunswick.
3. The island is crescent-shaped, measures approximately 140 miles from tip to tip and is 4 to 40 miles wide.
4. On the south shore of the island, in the quaint village of Victoria-by-the-Sea, you can munch on handmade chocolates, dine on lobster drawn fresh from the sea, buy an enchanted candle, see a play, have afternoon tea, watch Newfoundland dogs meander up and down Main Street, and visit a lighthouse.
